HOT: Lady Melbourne party for Peppermint Magazine, Shop 5, Georges on Collins, 162-168 Collins St, Melbourne

It’s not every day that you have the chance to meet a member of royalty. So I was delighted to accompany Alex (Eco Fashionista) and her sister to a very special occasion – an afternoon tea party hosted by renowned fashion blogger, Lady Melbourne (aka Phoebe Montague).

The celebration: Lady Melbourne’s debut as the covergirl of the summer issue of indie art and design mag, Peppermint Magazine. The location: the pop up store <insert name here> inside Georges on  Collins Street. The theme: peppermint, of course! Peppermint-coloured icing on the cupcakes, Chamellia organic peppermint tea and oodles of champagne.

Alex, Jenny (Melbourne Op Shop Tours) and I managed to snatch a couple of minutes with Phoebe to congratulate her on her beautiful cover (Leona Edmiston dress, in case you’re wondering) and to ask her about her professional background and her blog. Phoebe studied fine arts as an undergraduate and is now finishing up a Masters in Journalism. She’s a freelance writer and has achieved the Holy Grail for us bloggers – full time blogging! Amazingly, she takes all of her own photos for her blog using a tripod and a DSLR, and always uses the natural light in her apartment.

The Peppermint Magazine cover came about almost by accident. Originally she was going to contribute a small article to the magazine, and then it grew to a column, and then a bigger article, and then the cover offer!

Huge congratulations, M’Lady! Looking forward to seeing more exciting ventures by you in the future. For more photos, check out Lady Melbourne’s blog and Patrik Neme’s pictures here.

PS <insert name here> is a temporary store stocking the delicately feminine garments of Eva Q (photo below), funky shirts from T-Shirt Garage & handmade jewellery by Joolz. Their next event is ‘A Very Eco Christmas‘ on Wednesday 2 December 5-8pm with Eco Fashionista and guest speaker P.K Walker – why not drop in after work for some shopping and chat?

    • Hi Mizz Sharon

I see that you’re studying at UQ, my old haunt! Brisvegas isn’t devoid of all fun – I should know, I grew up there and now I’m the editor of a blog about BNE.

At least you can still get your hands on (Brisbane-produced) Peppermint Magazine with Lady Melbourne on the cover up in the Sunshine State :)
