Footscray Finds is a monthly secondhand, handmade and boutique market held in the Footscray Library Car Park on Paisley Street. The first Footscray Finds kicked off on Sunday 18 June and it was a roaring success!
I am unsure as to whether anyone will be around for the 8am start but it turns out you should never underestimate the bargain hunters.
When I arrive there are already people scanning the stalls, checking out the vintage clothing, preloved toys, fresh produce and lining up for the coffee van.
Along with almost 80 car boot stalls the market features local food vendors such as Cobb Lane, a DJ and local handmade crafters. Stallholders can apply for either car boot or a 3 x 3m marquee space (BYO marquee and all equipment), for $50 per space.
I buy pastries and bread…
…a Western Bulldogs hand-knitted tea cosy…
…and desperately want the traffic lights but don’t have the $120 to spare!
The nicest thing is that Footscray Finds is a uniquely local showcase of local businesses and a gathering place for the inner west community.
I spot my neighbours, school mums and the local florist in the mix.
I’m sure Footscray Finds will become bigger over time as word spreads. Put the dates in your diary and set your alarm!
