HOT: Eco Fashionista Trunk Show, The Aviary, 271 Victoria St, Richmond

What does eco fashion mean to you? Hemp? Tie-dye? Cylk?

Cylk is just one of the labels that is stocked by Eco Fashionista – the online home of sustainable designer fashion from Australia and around the world. Each label in the Eco Fashionista collection has been carefully selected by the owner Alex Hume and is reflective of her style ethos – quality, comfort and elegance, with a touch of feminine prettiness.

Eco Fashionista held its first fashion trunk show in the upstairs room of The Aviary, a location perfectly suited to the shop’s style, down to its creamy white walls, red birdie decorations and huge peacock feather mirror. In amongst the racks of covetable clothes and accessories, Alex mingled with her guests as they sipped champagne, got a manicure from Makeovers, Manicures and Martinis and tried on shoes, jeans, belts and dresses.

My favourite pieces of the collection:

As my friends will attest, I’m a dress girl at heart. So I loved the bright silk dresses from Australian label Cylk – perfect for summer days and Spring Racing Carnival.

Beyond Skin’s striped ballet flats that reminded me of the beach umbrellas of the Cote d’Azur.

Alex’s dress by Minna, cinched at the waist with a butter-soft belt by Ashley Watson.
